Of all of the blogs I've written so far this has to be the most difficult. Not because of my fabulous contributors who have taken the time to offer me their pearls of wisdom and send me mouthwatering photo's but because it makes me sooooo peckish!
Apart from your beautiful Wedding Rings your photographs will be one of the few lasting reminders of your Wedding Day and for this reason it's so important to make the right choice when looking for a photographer...
If you plan to have Bridesmaids at your Wedding you can have great fun choosing their jewellery. Read on for some inspiration for your all important girlies...
Wonderful Wedding flowers! I adore flowers and the choice for Wedding arrangements is as big as your imagination (that's pretty big for me...) The arrangements above are from my own Wedding, I wanted lots of colour and seasonal flowers. I included my favourite flowers (Iris) and lots of Ivy for a rustic feel. My brief for my florist, Kayleigh from 'Tulips' in Bakewell, was quite loose, I didn't want anything structured, I felt as though the flowers should feel a little bit wild (just like me!) If you decide to work with a florist for your Wedding there's certainly a lot of choice in beautiful Derbyshire. A 'Pearl of Wisdom' from the lovely Sarah at Sarah's Floral Studio is to choose a florist you feel comfortable with and who understands your dreams and ideas for your Wedding. Sarah explains "Your florist will be able to recommend the ideal flowers and work with your colour scheme to create the perfect bouquet". Based in Derby Sarah has over 25 years of experience in floristry. The favourite flower of a professional? " Lillies and Orchids" Sarah says with a smile "although I could list so many more!" In addition to creating beautiful arrangements Sarah also offers Bridal Flower Classes. If you dream of creating your own Wedding flowers Sarah can offer one-to-one tuition or, for a hen party with a difference, a floral workshop. Have a chat with Sarah on her Facebook page - www.facebook.com/SarahsFloralStudio If we haven't been formally introduced, allow me to tell you that at best I can be described as sentimental, at worst a hoarder (!!) When it came to my Wedding Bouquet I felt that it was something I would like to keep. I met the lovely Gemma from The Button Tin in Rotherham at a Wedding Fayre and fell in love with her beautiful pieces. When it came to thinking about my bouquet I knew she would be able to create something wonderful and personal for me. The flowers in my bouquet were all handcrafted by Gemma from 1940's and 1950's fabric, she added buttons, lace and the beautiful bells that you can see on the bottom which are from my Mum's Wedding Dress. At the back of the bouquet there is a tiny piece of my comfort blanket given to me by my Nana when I was a baby, the fabric was so old (no jokes please) and fragile that Gemma had to weave it after I had cut a piece off. By the handle there are two separate pieces of vintage ribbon entwined at the top. Gemma hand-stitched my name onto one and Adam's onto the other. I was so touched by the little details that were added, my bouquet is truly a work of art to be treasured. We have visited the Button Tin for workshops since, Gemma also offers Hen Party workshops, visit http://gemmanemer.blogspot.co.uk/ for details. Jessica jayne of JJ's flowers based on Chatsworth Road, Chesterfield reminds Brides to Be that "Your Wedding Day should be a day you never forget". Nominated and shortlisted for the Wedding Industry Awards, an achievement she is extremely proud of, Jessica jayne offers a bespoke service including a visit to your chosen venue to provide inspiration for your flowers. She assures Brides to Be "Nothing is too much trouble. I am aware things will change, so you need to know you can send me images and ideas whenever you see them." You can find a world of inspiration on the website of JJ's flowers , http://www.jjsflowers.co.uk My lovely (and very talented) Mum created all of the flower arrangements for our reception, you can see one of her arrangements in the pic above. Mum collects antique and vintage china and spent months collecting jugs, teacups and bowls to fill with flowers. The yellow Roses above are some more of my favourite flowers. They evoke a sense of the countryside and feel so homely to me. If you are planning to create your own flowers let your creativity blossom, just keep in mind the timescale for your venue. We had our barn for a whole weekend and it took Mum at least a full day to collect and arrange all of the flowers. She asked the flower seller on our market in Chesterfield to help with sourcing the flowers, he was very happy to help and made some beautiful choices. If you are thinking of creating your own arrangements I can thoroughly recommend a visit, his prices and knowledge are excellent. Just make sure you give him notice for a big order. Having Mum dress our reception venue made everything so personal, she worked tirelessly to collect and arrange everything, ably assisted by my lovely Dad (although I suspect he was not involved in the flower arrangements...) I'm exceptionally lucky to have such a creative and loving family, a top tip for you Wedding Planning is to use talents that your family and friends have, it adds such a personal touch to your Wedding. I hope I've provided some inspiration for your Wedding flowers. A great way to put all of your ideas in one place is to create a Pintrest board. You can find my boards at AdornSparkles.
Happy Wedding Planning With Love, Laura Jo xx Choosing your Wedding venue is an important box to tick on your Wedding Planning To Do List. As well as the 'Where', booking your dream venue will also help decide the 'When' part of your Wedding. With so many things to think about I've compiled a venue 'checklist' to take with you when you view potential places and this week I'll be looking in detail and three fabulous (and very different) Derbyshire Wedding Venues...
Your Wedding Ring is the most important piece of jewellery you will ever wear. The circle, representing eternity, is worn on the third finger of the left hand, a tradition that stems from the ancient Egyptians who believed this finger held a vein that had a direct connection with the heart.
One of my favourite eras for style has to be the 1920's, I love the straight edges of Art Deco and the graceful curves of Art Nouveau. If you are planning to add a touch of glamour to your Wedding Day have a peek at our beautiful Marcasite and Opalite Collection with shapes inspired by the roaring '20's. Marcasite has been hugely popular over the latter part of last year and the fabulous vintage style sparkle it adds to your jewellery collection has ensured it's a style that's here to stay.
Treat your Marcasite kindly, a gentle wipe with a soft cloth is all that's needed to keep it in tip top condition. Make sure that you keep it away from water which will loosen the stones and from perfumes and body lotions which will cause your Marcasite to become dull. Follow my golden rule which is the same for Pearls and other gemstone jewellery, your jewellery should always be the last thing on and the first thing off! When you're preparing for your evening make sure you're dressed with hair and make up complete before you put on your jewellery. Even that final spritz of perfume should be done before you adorn yourself with your fabulous jewels! Caring for your jewellery in this way will maintain it's beauty for years to come. |
